Shepherd’s Pie

If you’re looking for comfort food, you can’t go wrong with a shepherd's pie. This classic dish features minced beef, vegetables, mushrooms, and mashed potatoes, all layered in a casserole and baked to a golden-brown finish with the Panasonic NN-DS59N 4-in-1 Steam Combination Microwave Oven. It’s a hearty meal that’s sure to nourish and satisfy.

Ingredients

  • 200 g Minced beef or chicken
  • 50 g Fresh mushroom sliced
  • 30-80 g Parsley chopped
  • 150 g Frozen mixed vegetables
  • 100 g White onion chopped coarsely
  • 3 pcs Garlic minced
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Coarse black pepper
  • Paprika to taste
  • 1 tbsp Cooking oil

Flour Mixture

  • tbsp Plain flour
  • 3 tbsp Water
  • ½ cube Beef stock

Toppings

  • 1 kg Potato
  • 100 g Cheddar cheese Grated & shredded

Mash Potato Seasoning

  • tbsp Milk
  • 3 tsp Melted butter
  • ½ tsp Black pepper
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ egg

Instructions

  • Combine onion, garlic and cooking oil in a microwave-safe casserole and cook without lid in our Panasonic Microwave Inverter cooking with Micro Power setting at 1000W for 3 mins.
  • Add minced beef, salt, sugar and black pepper to the mixture, and cook it without lid with Micro Power at 600W for a further 2 mins.
  • Add mixed vegetables, mushrooms, and parsley and now use the lid to cook the mixture with Micro Power at 600W for an additional 2 mins.
  • Stir in the flour mixture and with lid, put it back into the microwave and cook with Micro Power at 1000W for a final 2 mins. Once it's done, set aside for later use.

Prepare Mashed Potatoes

  • Cook potatoes with 3 tbsp water in a microwave-safe dish covered, and set micro power at 1000W for 13-15 mins. Flip potatoes halfway through cooking.
  • Peel the potatoes and mashed it with fork or blend in a food processor.
  • Add the mash potato seasoning ingredients halfway through and mix well.
  • Spread half of the mashed potatoes on the beef and sprinkle half of the cheese, top it with remaining mashed potatoes and sprinkle the last remaining cheese and paprika.
    tip: Do not push too hard when spreading the mashed potatoes.
  • Pierce the pie gently and avoid pressing down too hard. Place the casserole on grill tray.
  • Preheat oven to 200°C. Place the casserole on lower shelf and bake for 30 mins or until the surface is golden brown.
